Mrs. Hanneken holds both a Bachelor's and Master's in Library Science from Kutztown University.  For the first eight years of her career, she worked as an elementary librarian at Bristol Borough School District in Bristol, Pennsylvania.  During those eight years, she successfully automated the school library and revitalized the collection.  She also taught students information literacy skills, and co-taught technology skills with Bristol's Instructional Technology Specialist.

In 2005, Mrs. Hanneken took an eight year break from teaching, when she gave birth to her second child.  During those eight years, she enjoyed staying home with her three children, volunteering at their schools, and volunteering for various organizations.

Three years ago, Mrs. Hanneken accepted a position with School Lane Charter School in Bensalem, Pennsylvania as their K-8 librarian.  She was able to fully bring School Lane into the 21st Century with the addition of ebooks, research databases, and the creation of the library's website.  During her last year at School Lane, Mrs. Hanneken ran the new 7-12 grade school library.  In her short time in the 7-12 grade school, she was able to create an opening day collection, genrify the collection, and start a Makerspace in the library.

Mrs. Hanneken is thrilled to working at Shamong Township School District.  She looks forward to adding many 21st century resources to Indian Mills Memorial School, as well as working individually with all of the teachers and students.  At the beginning of this school year, Mrs. Hanneken was able to secure a large grant to start a library makerspace from both the Shamong Education Foundation and Title 1 grants.  More can be learned about the makerspace but visiting the Makerspace page of this website.

Professional Development is also a very large part of Mrs. Hanneken's career.  She is actively involved in many state and national organizations, such as New Jersey Association of School Librarians, ISTE, and American Library Association.   She is an advocate of Mackin's TYSL organization, as well as Follett's Future Ready Librarian's Group.  She recently became a Bloxels Education and Buncee ambassador. She enjoys presenting at the local, state and national level on technology, makerspaces, and the newest trends in library science.   Mrs. Hanneken is in the process of completing her second Master's degree in Instructional Technology from St. Joseph's University.

In Mrs. Hanneken's free time, she enjoys spending time with her three children and husband.  Some of her many hobbies include scrapbooking, reading, traveling, cooking and getting together with family and friends.
